For one, he has an assassin's ghost by his side 24/7 to offer advice or to scout things out undetected. Related: Who Is Eros? Thanos' Brother Explained (Powers, Origin & MCU Future)Īside from these skills, though, Hit-Monkey does have a few other special things going for him, even if they're not quite superpowers. There's a possibility that Hit-Monkey's higher-than-average monkey intelligence and knack for killing are the results of a mutation, but this hasn't been confirmed by any of his comic appearances. In the comics, as in Marvel's Hit-Monkey, the only powers the macaque really has are those that come with being a regular monkey: fighting agility, high intelligence, and an extra set of opposable thumbs. Marvel's ranks include many superheroes without powers, and Hit-Monkey is technically one of these, even though he's not a clear-cut hero. In fact, the emotional connection between Bryce and Hit-Monkey becomes a big part of the show's story a priest even tells them it's destiny. In the show, Bryce is much more fleshed out than his comic counterpart, who doesn't even have a name, and is a source of comic relief and even friendship for Hit-Monkey in a way that the comic version is not. One difference, however, is the inclusion of more of the hitman's backstory before Hit-Monkey is introduced. Hulu's Hit-Monkey adapts this story down to the last detail, for the most part. Now guided by the hitman's lingering ghost, Hit-Monkey sets out to kill the man responsible for the slaughter and winds up massacring his way through the ranks of Tokyo's criminal underworld along the way. Having learned assassin skills from the dead hitman-who's voiced by Ted Lasso's Jason Sudeikis in the series-Hit-Monkey picks up his guns to kill the soldiers and avenge his family. He turns out to be right, as the soldiers who wounded the hitman soon return to finish the job, also wiping out Hit-Monkey's entire family in the process. His story beings when the clan takes in a wounded human assassin and begins nursing him back to health against Hit-Monkey's better judgment he fears that more dangerous men will likely follow. In Hit-Monkey #1, Hit-Monkey begins as an average, if somewhat hot-headed, member of a tribe of Japanese macaques living in the mountains. Here's a guide to Hit-Monkey's comic history and abilities, as well as some theories about how the show could connect to other Marvel properties in the future. While he hasn't been around as long as other R-rated Marvel characters like The Punisher or Deadpool, the murderous snow monkey is still a force to be reckoned with, with plenty of comic book battles under his belt. In all these ways, Hulu's Hit-Monkey is a faithful adaptation of one of Marvel's zanier and more gruesome anti-heroes. Related: Is MODOK In The MCU? Marvel Canon Explained Equal parts whimsical and badass, Hit-Monkey also explores some deeper themes like the cost of revenge and the meaning of destiny, but never without a snarky comment from Bryce to ruin the moment at the last second.
#HITMAN 2 UNDER THE MAT SERIES#
Hit-Monkey features a stellar voice cast including Jason Sudeikis, Fred Tatasciore, and George Takei, and also boasts a TV-MA rating that it makes the most of at every turn. Hit-Monkey employs shocking levels of violence and gore, from surfing a would-be assassin's body down the asphalt in downtown Tokyo to turning an entire room of Yakuza bosses into a bloody Jackson Pollock painting. At the same time, the series also maintains consistently dry, irreverent adult humor, all of which makes for a truly original and unpredictable TV rollercoaster. Hulu's new animated show adapts the comics in a no less outrageous and creative fashion. Hit-Monkey has made numerous appearances since his debut in Hit-Monkey #1 in 2010, primarily fighting against or alongside Deadpool and other X-Men universe characters. Created by writer/illustrator team Daniel Wray and Dalibor Talajic, Hit-Monkey is a notorious Japanese snow monkey, also known as a macaque, who kills other killers in a surprisingly brutal fashion.
